Sad, Sad Call

I made my Monday call to Mom last night. She was still talking about a possible visit from Aunt Helen. She had not heard from Cousin M. So I told her. What a sad, sad phone call. I assured her that we were trying to figure out how to get the sisters together. I suggested that she fly to CO to visit Helen. She said it wouldn't be the same. She said, "I think we've had our last visit."

Then, Mom told me that she had been to see her GP yesterday about blood in her stool. He told her she shouldn't just assume that her cancer (from 19 years ago) is back. It could be a combination of some intestinal irritation and being on blood thinner. And then he got her an appointment with a GI specialist for today. She doesn't want me to go with her.

Still tough as nails.

  1. M finally called me back last night. We had a great talk, and she was going to call Mom today. M really wants to fly down with Aunt Helen for a couple of days. She feels the sisters need to see each other one more time. She is very adamant on this, and I am sure she will accomplish her goal. Because of the deteriorating health of Aunt Helen, she wants to do it sooner rather than later. M's husband is dying of cancer, and her two sons just went bankrupt, due to their partner being corrupt (now in jail). So M is selling her house and moving to KC to be near her boys and and grandchildren--her husband's wish, also. Too many sad and difficult things to bear, it seems, so this sister visit is up on the list for M.
